Earlier this month, the premiere Boston Fashion Week event showcasing the work of Mexican fashion designer and artist-in-residence Carla Fernández was held at the Isabella Stuart Gardner Museum.

Guests enjoyed the fashion presentation in Calderwood Hall followed by remarks by the designer who noted much of her inspiration comes from her homeland and even the Spanish style tiles in the Museum.

The designer went on to note her “Gardner Collection” was all hand made by indigenous craft masters in Mexico. The uniquely geometrical pieces (especially the coats) had loads of texture and managed to combine both minimalism while being quite complex and unique in their details.

To fete the show, an after party was held in the Museum’s lovely Courtyard with beats spun by Ricardo De Lima. Guests were invited to tour the entire museum, and I can say it is truly unlike any other museum in the world I have explored. For anyone who has not yet experienced the splendor that is the Gardner Museum you must add this to your list of places to visit in Boston.
